Destiny 2 and all the random things it can bring into our lives: minutes in “This Week in Destiny” with the player base sharing thoughts. Sometimes lovely, sometimes’d bad, and some just confusing for sure. Here is a small brief on what’s happening in the world of Guardians, loot, and endless debates on class balance.
Headline: Desert Perpetual is down. For those who are oblivious to it, that is the name of the newest raid. And yes, almost impossible. This is where things get interesting. A faction of the community believes that the new legendary weapon, which happens to be the first-ever crossbow in Destiny 2, should be locked behind this raid, and the other faction opposes it. Some feel it should, like Skye Nathaniel (@internisus), since it’s new, and the raids should always be considered the top-tier endgame content. However, Essea (@Esseaghost) strongly disagrees, stating that no other legendary has ever been locked behind a raid before. Now, several in the community are fueling this debate with some telling others to “git gud,” while others just want to have a fair shot at the loot. Classic Destiny drama.
Warlocks! Oh boy!” Tom (@eventuallyTom) went on a rant: How have Warlocks been “stealth nerfed” to the grave; Starfire Protocol, Sunbracers, and even Touch of Flame were all unfortunate victims of Bungie’s secret balancing. The responses? A downright mess. Some of those, such as ThatOneGuyIsBad (@firepats12), retaliated with “skill issue,” while Bread Goblin (@BriocheGenie) dragged Hunters back into the picture, claiming they were still OP. Same old story: Titans and Hunters dunking on Warlocks, the Warlocks screaming into the void, and Bungie just… observing.
Loot, loot, and more loot! And vault space-still remains an issue. Thunder (@Thundergunkid) was the perfect one to explain this: “699/700 for the last few years and I’ve spent hours cleaning my vault.” Yes, the struggle is real. Players are begging for a vault expansion or a feasible solution for hoarding all new gear. But hey, Arms Week kicks off next Tuesday, so maybe that’ll serve as a short-lived distraction.
Some LFG drama on the side. Sadly, some players are still forced to battle through the in-game LFG system, purportedly being a “monstrosity,” according to Latea @Lateaaa_. Meanwhile, other players are having the time of their lives in gargantuan Discord servers with communities so much better than that. So the verdict stands: If you can’t find a team for a raid, drop the in-game client for Discord.
So the verdict this week? Destiny 2 is still Destiny 2. Raids are hard, Warlocks are (allegedly) suffering, vault space is a nightmare, and the community is as ever divided. But hey, that’s why we love it! Or at least tolerate it. The Guardians are going to keep grinding, arguing, and waiting for the next update.
If you’re still mad about the crossbow, then here’s what Skye Nathaniel had to say: “Just wait. Next season will probably introduce a more accessible one.” Or not. Who knows. It’s Bungie we’re talking about.
