Sentinels have stoked the Valorant segment of the crowd with their simple question: just how many more victories do they need to go to Champions? The tweet, partly in jest urging somebody to do the math, opened up a torrent of translation into arguments with everything from nuts-and-bolts analysis to pure trolling.

Right away, the answers ranged from confident to chaotic. One self-styled math genius, Subreezy, indicated, “about 3 to be safe,” while ShadowD1 maintained it was really just 2 wins needed. Then we had Jonathan Liu driving deep into late hours: “Worst case scenario is if MIBR get plus nine points…,” with so strong vibes of a thesis. On the other hand, xufttyy entered with: “approximately 739 according to precise calculations” just because.

Mainly, this has to do with tiebreakers and how other teams such as MIBR or KRU could come into the Sentinels’ pathway. Vera :3 said that technically Sentinels are already qualified unless those teams outstrip them in points and don’t place top 3 in Stage 2. But really—nobody wants to leave that to fate. Eggo and anna debated whether the new tiebreakers were going to be based on head-to-head records (like last time) or placements in the playoffs, and, honestly, they weren’t entirely sure either.

Chaotic replies followed with brashness, such as, “I don’t want you to qualify , what are you going to do ? Donate free points to every team in Champs.” from POPEYE. Also, icebear hit with, “looks like 2 more games and then yall just do nothing,” which coming from last year’s post-qualification slump, really stinks of truth.

There were a few calm voices amidst the madness: both NRG mtx. and RFC agreed on 2 wins. Raving Sentinels superfan ShadowD3m0n said, “Best team in NA looking to make it b2b Champs appearances… Just gotta keep the throttle til that cup is in your hands.” Cutting through the noise was PUBLIC ENEMY #1 with “How abt u just focus on winning every game.” Less noise. More substance.

Now, it’s going to be whether Sentinels play it cautiously (maybe Subreezy and his “3 to be safe”) or go all out (maybe shae’s “it doesn’t matter cause yall will make the stage 2 grand final🙂”). The math might just be a huge mess, but the vibes? Immaculate.

So what is the verdict? Most are agreed on 2-3 wins, but due to the dizzyingly always-home-changing tiebreakers that Valorant has and the teams waiting for their chance, Sentinels will probably want to place it as four wins to ease their nerves for a little bit. Or just follow Daisy 🌼’s advice: “More than one.” Groundbreaking.

One thing is sure: Sentinels fans are invested. Whatever they do, whether mathematical debate or verbal abuse, just means that the passion is real. So, when will we see this team transform this wild chaos into a smooth run for Champs? Or will we be going back to another math degree thread to dissect the aftermath?
