The PlayStation Podcast has definitely earned a bit of discussion—and even some groaning, depending on who you ask. And yet while the gang spoke over the gameplay of Ghost of Yōtei and the polarizing ending of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, judging by some Twitter replies, not everyone is actually all that thrilled with the discourse.
On the first topic of discussion, there was a very detailed dive into Ghost of Yōtei-the samurai title from Sucker Punch that is supposed to be held in the highest regard. As the teams talked about combat mechanics and open-world exploration, you could hear the crowd go wild. User @everettplayzg almost shouting out, “More peak of Yōtei let’s go!!!” Then again, others such as @hook10_kyle were actually still catching up with the first Ghost game, classic backlog, nonetheless.
Then, the “thought-provoking” ending of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was discussed-though reactions were mixed at best. Some gamers, like @CyberBackAgain, felt robbed, “We wanted a deep dive to see how this story ended….” Others, like @Boogityboo1492, simply had little interest in it: “2 games I give zero fucks about.”
Worse than that. In the comments, more discussion on character design broke out, as @Sometindarksid3 remarked: “No one asked for this ‘Last of Us 2’ bullshit style of a game.” Accompanied by caveman chatter, @CoolCat31929334 called it “Ghost of Wokei.” Ouch. The “go woke, go broke” gang soon gave a rallying cry with @Armandogzz977 and @lazytot101 embracing the cliché.
Not quite, some comments praised the game. @bankshelby1 thought it was “adventurous,” and @genome_protocol was just simply asking, “can I play?” Fair enough.
Then the real chaos ensues, with @Rob3008 accusing someone of being pro-Israel during the discussion and then @furyofflame chimed in with the downright strange “Because Luffy is a Jew” response. Such is Twitter for you.
And the Portuguese speakers cannot be forgotten. @nontatuoboga joked, “Homi, eu não tô tendo tempo nem de jogar os jogos bons…” (“Bro, I don’t even have time to play the good games…”).
The podcast started inquire about Sucker Punch’s older franchises. @Marvalous214 asked: “Any word about revisiting their previous game series? Infamous, Rocket, and Sly Cooper.” What a relevant question-Sony, about that Sly Cooper reboot?
Then we have the AI game complaints. @AlpHa_VriiXx_2 demanded: “What about all the ai generated game plaguing the ps store?” Good point.
The podcast had definitely done its job since conversations had begun. Were these conversations productive, or just keyboard warriors screaming into an empty void? Well, that particular discourse is 2024.
That’s it. For the curious, it’s worth checking out if you dare. Otherwise, take off, as @Luffywipes suggested.
