Riot Games just dropped the list of the new VALORANT map pool, and the community is caught in a tiff, so to say. The biggest bit of news? Abyss is back—and some people just can’t handle it. The lineup goes as follows: Abyss, Ascent, Bind, Corrode, Haven, Lotus, and Sunset. Yuppers, the ones they loved were thrown out, but others are there like that one guest who just won’t leave the party.

First up, Abyss, please. Abyss was out of rotation for a while, and now it comes back. Some are stoked. For example, @TheRealLuchino praised the list as “best lineup ever.” Then others were saying no. @Ghosty00_ goes, “Man I just got back into Val.. and now this shit map is coming back :(” Ouch. Then @MykeeisOfficial was just more brutal: “I’d rather play fracture than abyss.” Damn.

And Ascent. It was in there forever, as if it wouldn’t leave, and the players are slowly losing it. @Zck8Zck tweeted: “Ascent still managing to never leave the pool is crazy,” while @Jack88222021 just straight-up asked, “how is accent still in the game.” (Side note: bro, it’s Ascent, not Accent, but we feel you.) Even @cowboylikelevi chimed in with, “ascent just is always fucking there.” Can’t argue with that.

Lotus is also placed under the spotlight and is worrying some. @Pineapple03456 likened it to a “toxic ex who doesn’t leave you alone,” while @FxxkHideRogue (literally meaning “I hate Rogue”) yelled, “Lotus remove add split.” Split, however, is a map some players want to play. @jeakion said they “never liked split” but do concede it’s a good map. Meanwhile, @dxnny7x added, “Remove corrode for split and it’s best map pool.”

Those are the vibes regarding what maps should’ve stayed or should’ve left. @Jaskirat_aidan was begging, “why abyss bring back breeze 😠,” while @Lilssk3 was rejoicing, “W map !!! fk off icebox!!” On the other hand, Icebox, another hot button issue, received some love from @G22Sorrow as he replied to one of the haters, saying, “💔 i love icebox.”

Some are just confused. @PainGamerValo outright asked, “What is Riot doing?” and @GamersGottaGam3 follows up with, “Idk about this one champ.” Meanwhile, @teziwnl_ dropped, “We good u can keep it out,” which is a more polite way of saying “nah, we’re good.”

And here is where the discipline of chaos starts taking over. @cowboylikelevi and @solyrr7 initiated a “me when I lie” thread that made zero sense yet was kind of hilarious. And then came @ivangamertnt with his own brilliance: “eu buenos mapas” (good maps, in Spanish).

So what’s it going to be? The new map pool, much like a mixed stew. Some players find joy, others are enraged, very few onlookers just watch the drama build. But one thing is certain—Riot kills us with gossip. Want it or not, Abyss is here. And we’re all going to have to live and deal with it. Good luck out there, agents; you’re gonna need it.
