With a considerable update earlier thrown in for the Monster Hunter Wilds cadre, it gave a slight chance for the eventuality that every cruel Arch-tempered monster could become a permanent fixture. Kapang talaga ang terror: Arch-tempered Rey Dau at Uth Duna will become permanent as of July 23. And if they are going to go the distance, maybe they will do the same with every Arch-tempered clock too. The Wilds community is seriously quite mad right now!

So the rundown from Guild Report 10 was that Arch-tempered Rey Dau would return from July 23 to coincide with the Festival of Accord: Flamefete, and will never really disappear thereafter. Meanwhile, the current event quest will vanish on July 16. Grind your gamma armor if you want! Also, Uth Duna is set for that early permanent status, which was slated for later, starting forever on the 23rd. Capcom has openly stated that they are “considering” extending this treatment toward the following Arch-tempered monsters and other event quests. Big wins for hunters who are busy schedule-wise.

Now back to why this is important. Arch-tempered monsters are in fact end-game variations of monsters you had already faced, with pretty demanding pattern attacks, and hitpoint values so absurdly being large that they make Dark Souls seem more like Animal Crossing. Coming here for a change: You’d log off one day, and the next time you logged in, your shot at gamma armor sets, which quite a lot of times actually define the meta, was just… gone. The community has been screaming for this since World, and Sunbreak already made all event quests permanent. Took Wilds a minute to catch up-but hey, better late than never, right?

The responses under Capcom’s tweet are a vibe on their own. Some hunters wish those supercharged beasts would randomly spawn in the open world (which sounds terrifying and awesome at the same time); then there are others begging for quality-of-life stuff like a quest completion marker. Then comes chaotic energy of thousands demanding ridiculous events like fighting a giant chatacabra — never change Monster Hunter fandom! Throwback to xScarlettB_’s drop: “I have a job and a severe chronic illness…please think about people who have less time.” Say it loud.

A couple, of course, are unhappy. You’ve got the “git-gud” types complaining that this lessens the value of limited-time challenges. Then there’s the “just-fix-the-game” crowd who are hoping for optimization on repeat (and they deserve it). But, then again, most hunters seem pretty darn happy. BobbyDorf put it best, “THANK YOU, having armor that important and meta be tied to limited time was straight up Silly!” Very, very well put.

An interesting go-side way is how Capcom is reacting to the feedback: Admittedly, it does feel like they are listening, however, as elzuxx00 pointed out, there’s just no pleasing everybody. The middle road they’re going down-keeping time-limited stuff (likely for collabs) while making core progression permanent-is the smart option. Then again, they were probably lowkey genius in how they built hype around the Flamefete festival through this. Free advertising while players log in to prep for permanent Arch-tempered fights? Smooth.

That sets quite a precedent to the life span of Wilds ahead. If they really are sticking to the promise of putting more event quests in the permanent column, it may just be the ultimate cure for FOMO burnout that live service ventures suffer from. Imagine logging in onboard for six months and being able to chase after every armor set at your own pace-this is the dream. Now, if only there was a giant Kulu-Ya-Ku clad in a top hat awaiting us… That’s peak Monster Hunter.

At the end of the day, that is a win for casual hunters, completionists, and anyone who dislikes artificial scarcity. The fact that Capcom is willing to course-correct bodes well for Wilds. Don’t expect them to ever remove green extract, though-akkohunta is going to keep whining about that one forever.
