A teaser trailer for Title Update 3 from Capcom was released for Monster Hunter Wilds, allegedly to come out in September, and then… the community responded with thoughts. It was all a bit confusing: The official tweet had been vague, saying details would follow, but then the fans took over the replies, giving rise to demands, complaints, and all sorts of disorder that truly make the Monster Hunter fandom one of the most entertaining ones on the face of the earth.
The funny thing about it is that Title Update 3 is literally all there is. No big new monsters. No big new features. Just the “đź‘€” and a promise to tell us soon. Classic Capcom, tease now, explain later. Meanwhile, Capcom remains mostly silent; the players continue with their hype train, salty remarks, and nearly incomprehensible queries.
Some of them were just wishing for the return of the old-school monsters. Some cried “Please bring back Monoblos,” while some were begging for “the monkey” (Rajang fans, we see you). Others weren’t so nice: “Worst Monster Hunter yet,” said one especially spicy contributor to the conversation. Then there were the development-related complaints: “Forget the update, fix the PC performance first,” snapped another frustrated hunter, voicing a sentiment increasingly echoed since launch.
And these veterinary gripes do not stop there. Console players are in for a round of reviews too, with some saying smooth experience (“Works perfect on my PS5”) and some blaming it for crashes and good optimization. Classic split-the-row-the-experiences-are-either-good-or-worst tribe. And then there is another who added the alleged statistic of playerbase shrinking “by over 90%,” though, uh, we really need to see that one.
From here come the dribble of criticisms: “You have hundreds of monsters, why only add 1-2 every few months,” demands one clearly impatient fan. Others are already speculating on what is to come. Water monsters? Autumn-themed monsters? Speculations are flying around, but Capcom is silenced.
And of course, it cannot be a Monster Hunter discussion without some tears from the Frontier set. “Frontier monsters in Wilds, PLEASE!” begs one player, referring to the near-extinction of a spin-off series that shall never see a Western release. Slim chance, but hey, dreams are free.
So what’s next? More waiting, apparently. Capcom’s playing it coy, and players are stuck theorizing (or venting) until September. Will Title Update 3 be what the fans want, a release of fixes and content? Or will it be just another divisive drop? Time alone will have the answer for that. One thing that will certainly never change, though, is the Monster Hunter fandom.
And honestly? That makes us love them more.
