In this update for the latest all-encompassing season, Blizzard took Diablo 4 for a spin. Escalating Nightmares have been made a part of the Sins of the Horadrim content patch. Whereas reactions were rescindingly split, some members of the Diablo community audit-their-voices among those either hyped about it or bored to death over it.

The new mode of Escalating Nightmares lies in both Seasonal and Eternal realms, presumably promising higher levels of difficulty and better loot, at least theoretically. But is that enough to keep everyone grinding? It depends on whom one asks. People like Alison Derrick are essentially loving the changes to NMDs, stating how it realistically offers the endgame some kind of engagement. Then you have KorruptedBoss getting away, claiming that the season is “same old stuff from Blizzard” with no real additions to the endgame content. That would put a tear in Nick Carpenter’s eyes.

Someone wants to go all technical? KuraiDedman mentioned extremely irksome bugs: the keys won’t drop; the portals do not show up and if they do manage to show up, the difficulty does not seem to escalate enough. Whereas Er Lee mocked, “No lag is the only thing you can’t survive in Diablo, especially when playing Hardcore.” That’s the truth!

And then Butcher-gate happens. Clamp Cut Tie wondered if he should technically drop better loot at higher torments because receiving rares at T4 is an insult. Vanishing Point suggests more insane affixes like The Butcher to keep things crazy. Blizzard: Please take notes.

Talking about any Diablo enhancement updates, the everlasting PvE versus PvP war is sure to erupt. EqualInterval went on to just ask for some appreciation for Diablo Immortal PvP, and KingOfAbyss666 retaliated with “Enjoy your Immoral, let us enjoy our PvE.” The Fury will never die.

About the battle pass. Nephram targeted Blizzard, claiming they put merch and battle passes before player concerns, whereas notalive_zombie insinuated, sarcastically, that the situation must be that dire for battle passes even to be considered a feature. Meanwhile, mentalhazord breezed through the new pass in about five minutes, wondering what to do now.

Now, that was a little refreshing, after all. TJ Evers II slammed the haters by saying every season has something worthwhile and we’re having fun. Meanwhile, Mauricio Medina is having fun with Rogue, throwing knives, and all. Sorcerer mana management? Druid spirit animals? Sounds like fun to someone.

The latest update for Diablo 4 is, after all, an exceedingly divisive one. Some players are down, while others are looking into Last Epoch or Path of Exile. Will Blizzard take what was said seriously and make the changes it needs to? Time will tell. But for now, gear up and dive into Nightmares-try not to get one-shotted by a bug. Good luck.
