Can you imagine God of War 3 has seen exactly 15 springs since entering our consoles? The very definition of Action-Adventure, and that story was just plain epic. The graphics? Jaw-dropping. I was so exhilarated I could feel my heart racing as I took control of Kratos to slay gods and monsters in his revenge quest. What a journey!

This was hardly a sequel but the grand finale of the Kratos’ original saga. It had everything we loved about the series but on the next, or rather, the last level—beautiful graphics, action-meets-mastery gameplay.

Kratos crawling the slopes of Olympus is now imprinted in history as one of the best openings of all times and all the land of chaos and vengeance descended. Discussion about this very game runs endless among fans. @armentsatou calls it “the best series ever.” You can’t dispute that. @Numbeyes89Sly said, “This was a magnificent way to end Kratos’ story.”

And just take a minute to recall those heavy emotional sequences. Kratos had us laughing, crying, and cheering beside him. To this day, people are talking about these memories. @CtrlAltDeals chimed, “I’m getting old!” How true! Most of us grew up with Kratos, and reminiscing about how far we have come really gives a bittersweet touch to our gaming nostalgia.

Now about the game! @Moon_River05 was happy to say blades of exile were loved and skill was needed for them. There was just nothing to compare with nailing those moves! After that, things began changing quite a lot in the series when Kratos went for a completely different style in the latter games.

A lot of fans miss the Greek myth aspect and the original combat style, with some clamoring for the old-school and others championing the more recent direction. Now, not everybody thinks so. @josephlev22 went hard on the present state of the industry and kept saying that everything was better back in 2010. Really interesting angle to look at, through the lens of nostalgia.

And wouldn’t it be fun to still be enjoying and talking about these classics? As we gather to celebrate, let’s take a moment to salute what God of War 3 left in its wake.

A portal bestowed unto tomorrow’s gaming and an inspiration to many, if not all, developers. Alone with this game stand the longtime fans, riddling and perplexing the new and converted audiences and with personal memories tied to it forever.
