Developer 343 Industries is not telling when they will release the much-anticipated Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC.

In a Reddit AMA, community director Brian Jarrard, who goes by the moniker Ske7ch, tried to evade the question foremost in every fan’s minds.

What is the Halo: The Master Chief Collection release date for the PC?

But Jarrard said they are hesitant to reveal a fixed time frame for the game only to have it blow back in their faces. For instance, the priority right now is the Halo: Reach and the Halo: Combat Evolved. And while they want all efforts to be parallel for the games to come out sooner, that’s just not possible.

What he can say, however, is that the game will be ready “when they’re ready.”

He said the fighting component is what makes the Halo series great and they need to translate that to the PC. There are so many variables to be considered to create a seamless experience.

For now, the majority of the team of 343 Industries is focused on the Halo Infinite, but progress on the MCC is not hampered. That’s because the developer partnered with Splash Damage and Ruffian to make sure they finish as soon as possible.

One thing that the developer could not commit, however, is the community dedicated server. This will allow clans and players to host their own servers and create tournaments with their own rules. As user FlotillaFlotsam noted, the support would ensure longevity for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Jarrard admitted that this was raised during one of their meetings but for now nothing is in the pipeline, particularly at launch. However, they hope to implement that somewhere down the road for both the PC and Xbox One.

As to modding, he said they are working with the modding community and broached the topic of official support. But again, this would not be included during the launch. What he promises during the Halo: The Master Chief Collection launch are seamless fighting and the anti-cheat mechanism.

On March 12, 343 Industries announced that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to the PC. The MCC featured four games when it was launched on the Xbox in 2014. But Jarrard clarified that the upcoming PC game will feel like a new product because of the many changes.

During that announcement, however, 343 Industries did not give a hint for the Halo: The Master Chief Collection release date.
